I need to get the mic working again on either or both of the HP Elite 8200s. The Dell Inspiron 3268 is not mine, so I will not be using the mic with it. When I attached the mic to the front of the computer using the adapter, Audacity would not recognize it.
I bought an adapter cord with a 3.5 mm plug so I could add an extension to the short cord of the mic. Just now, while trying to troubleshoot, I plugged it into a USB port in the front of a new Dell Inspiron 3268. Neither was it recognized by Speech recognition. While the computer itself might date back to 2006 (I haven't checked the manufacture date), I don't understand how it could have drivers dating back that far. It is typical of most of the rest in that it shows the current driver to date back as far as 2006. The attachment shows the first driver in that list of 73. I have not installed any of these drivers, as yet.
It found 89, 73 of which were available without me upgrading to the Pro version. I let the software scan for out of date drivers. While I am a little cautious about downloading drivers from these 'driver specialist' sites, I created a restore point and downloaded and installed software from one of the more 'prominent' vendors. I have spent as much as two days looking for a particular driver. I wanted to update all my drivers hoping that might solve a few minor problems with my computer.
